Janine and Josh
Josh and Janine are brown-haired individuals. They are twenty six years old, deeply pensive, and thoughtful. They are joined by their passion for reading, writing, the Kingdom of God, open source software, New Media, hair, the need to understand the present through the past, children, and of course, eating tomatoes.
Janine is currently a graduate student, writing a dissertation on the history of working class Christianity in the early twentieth century and its relationship to the "radical" Left. Josh is currently working as a systems administrator on the Image Management team at Carle Foundation Hospital. In his spare time, he watches free lectures online in Computer Science, and hopes to someday pursue a degree in this field. This past Spring, Janine decided to donate "two full hours of lecture/ discussion on American History" to her church, hoping to raise money for the teens to travel to New Orleans for volunteer work. Shockingly, Josh won the auction at the opening bid.
How We Met
Josh and Janine met through a book discussion on John Howard Yoder's The Politics of Jesus during the summer of 2008. Janine was happy to learn that Josh agreed with Yoder on the role the Church ought to play in the world (especially in relation to the state). However, when Josh invited her to a wedding, she was surprised. She insisted that she loved her singleness, and intended on remaining so forever or for the foreseable future. Josh was surprised that Janine's foreseeable future was only about three weeks.
